Marcelo Garrido-Navarrete comes from a
traditional Chilean horse family, growing up with horses all his life he
learned natural horsemanship, understanding and love of horses. In 1988
after his second year of Forestry Engineering at the Austral University in
Valdivia - Chile, Marcelo decided to move to Europe where he studied for
his British Horse Society instructional degree. He worked as Manager and
Trainer in Shrewsbury, Coventry and Abagabeny (South Wales). During this
time he trained and showed in Jumping, Dressage and Cross-Country. During
a period of 1 year he went to Belgium and Holland to receive further
training in Dressage and Jumping with Nicholas Smith, grade A jumper, in
Belgium and Alex Von Silfout, Grand Prix Dressage Trainer-Instructor in
Holland.In 1993 Marcelo returned to Chile
where he finished his Hotel Management degree at Diego Portales Institute
and worked as Tourist Coordinator, Barn Manager and Trainer. He developed
entertainment and sport activities: Triathlons, Mountain bike, Volleyball,
Horseback Riding Excursion and Polo Camps. Taking advantage of his
creativity and experience in management and coordination of special events
he organized international horseback riding excursions at Pedernal Ranch
where he held the position as Show Jumping Trainer and Tourist
Coordinator.
In the year 2000 he moved to California and worked as
Trainer-Instructor and Equestrian Tourist Coordinator at Pepperdine
University, during this period he organized Polo Camps in Chile, and
excursions to the World Equestrian Games in Spain and to the Apache
Reservation, White Mountains, Arizona, USA.
Is important to mention that Marcelo has the
experience and knowledge to train, ride and show Advanced Level in
Dressage, Show Jumping and 3-Day Eventing Horses; Years of training have
given the opportunity to practice high schooling exercises: Piaffe,
Passage, Pirouettes and 4, 3, and 2 times Flying Changes of lead
